Men's Soccer Defeated By Seton Hall, 3-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated by Seton Hall University, 3-0, on Saturday, September 25 in South Orange, N.J. For the Friars, it was their fourth consecutive road game, and their sixth game away from Glay Field this season.

The two teams played almost a scoreless first half until Seton Hall freshman Justin McGrath picked up a pass from senior Jerrod Laventure in the box and put his shot past Friar sophomore goalkeeper Chris Konopka (Toms River, N.J.) from 10 yards out.

The Pirates added insurance goals in the second half from Laventure at 52:36 and Michael Zotti at 68:26. Laventure converted on a penalty kick just seven minutes into the second half.

Konopka recorded seven saves for the Friars.

With the win, Seton Hall improved to 1-1-0 in BIG EAST play and 5-2-1 overall. PC fell to 0-7-0 overall and 0-4-0 in conference play.

Providence will return to action on Wednesday, September 29 at Glay Field versus Connecticut. It will be the first of six straight home games for the Friars.
