MEN'S LACROSSE GAME PREVIEWProvidence College vs. Holy CrossTuesday, April 6, 2004 * 4:00 p.m.Glay Field * Providence, R.I.

Providence College Friars (3-4, 2-1 MAAC): The Providence College men's lacrosse team is scheduled to host Holy Cross in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 6 at 4:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. Providence started the season 0-3, but has won three of its last four games to earn a current overall record of 3-4 (2-1 MAAC). The Friars recently defeated Siena, 15-1, in MAAC action on April 4 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Providence held its opponent to just one goal, marking the fewest goals scored by an opponent since 1988, when the Friars shutout Mass Maritime, 18-0. PC's 15 goals also marked the most goals scored in a single game since the 2002 season. Junior Jonathan Hollister (Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Friars with five points on three goals and two assist. Junior Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.) also added three goals in the win. Freshman Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) made his first collegiate start between the pipes for the Friars and registered a career-high 16 saves.

Giuntini and freshman Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) each have 13 points to lead the Friars in scoring though seven games. Giuntini has 11 goals and two assists on the season, while Ryan has two goals and 11 assists. Junior Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been the teams' primary goaltender this season, playing 270:14 minutes in the cage. McMinn has a 9.77 goals against average and a .551 save percentage. Littell has played in three games for a total of 114:58 minutes and has a 1.57 goals against average and a .897 save percentage.

Junior Mark Rotella (Smithtown, N.Y.) has taken the majority of the face-offs this season and currently has a .492 face-off percentage (30-61). Senior defenseman Brian O'Rorke (Montclair, N.J.) leads the team with 24 groundballs.

Holy Cross Crusaders (2-5, 0-4 Patriot League): Holy Cross enters Tuesday's non-conference men's lacrosse game against Providence with a 2-5 overall record and a 0-4 mark in the Patriot League. In the Crusaders most recent game on April 3, the squad fell to Lehigh, 13-8. The Crusaders' last win was on March 31 as the team defeated Siena, 13-8. Three players lead the team in scoring with 20 points each. Billy Klotz owns a team-high 17 goals on the season and has added three assists. Paul LeBlanc is second on the team in goals (15) and has tallied five assists, while Mike McKee leads the Crusaders with 13 assists to go along with seven goals. Brian Hodgdon has played 419:33 minutes in goal for Holy Cross. He currently has a 12.87 goals against average and a .596 save percentage. Last season, Holy Cross defeated Providence, 10-6, in Worcester, Mass. The last time the two teams met in Providence, R.I. was during the 2002 season when the Friars earned a 19-4 victory.
