Providence College Friars (5-5, 4-1 MAAC): The Providence College men's lacrosse team is scheduled to host Marist College in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Tuesday, April 20 at 3:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. Providence is coming off two big conference wins as they defeated St. Joseph's, 13-6, and Wagner, 10-3. In their last game, the Friars dominated Wagner on April 17 as they controlled play for much of the game. Providence had five players with multiple points led by junior Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Tom Kelly (Henniker, N.H.) who scored two goals each. Junior Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started in net for Providence and made four saves to improve his record to 4-3 (3-0 MAAC).
Giuntini's 21 points (18 goals, three assists) leads the Friars though 10 games. Freshman Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) is second on the team with four goals and 14 assists, while junior Jonathan Hollister (Longmeadow, Mass.) is third with 13 points (six goals, seven assists). McMinn has been the teams' primary goaltender this season, playing 376:28 minutes in the cage. McMinn has a 8.29 goals against average and a .556 save percentage.
Junior Mark Rotella (Smithtown, N.Y.) has taken the majority of the face-offs this season and currently has a .518 face-off percentage (58-112). Senior defenseman Brian O'Rorke (Montclair, N.J.) leads the team with 34 groundballs.
Marist College Red Foxes (7-4, 5-0 MAAC): Marist enters Tuesday's MAAC match up against Providence with a 7-4 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league play. The Red Foxes are the lone undefeated team in the MAAC and currently sit in first place. Marist is led in scoring this season by Keith Detelj with 27 points on 19 goals and eight assists. Billy Duerr is second with 21 points (13 goals, eight assists), while Brian Diele is third with 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. Goalkeeper Steve Gravino has posted a 6-2 overall record with a .657 save percentage and a 7.48 goals against average.
