The Providence College Friars defeated Sacred Heart, 6-1, on Saturday, April 17 in Fairfield, Conn.

In singles action, Providence's No. 1, freshman Jen Daigle (East Greenbush, N.Y.) was defeated by Lauren Galatie in a tiebreaker, 7-5, 7-6 (10-8). PC's No. 2, sophomore Cheri Lapane (Reading, Mass.) defeated Pam Pillo, 6-2, 6-4, while No. 3, sophomore Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.) defeated Lissa Von Brecht, 6-1, 6-1. Providence's No. 4, junior Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) and No. 5, junior Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass.) defeated Jeanne Sampson, 6-1, 6-1 and Darcy Shoop, 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Friar freshman Andrea Lee (Cumberland, R.I.) won her fourth consecutive match as she defeated Katelyn Kittredge, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot.

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Bitetti and Lapane defeated Galatie and Pillo, 8-3, while the No. 2 team of Rodger and Gilbride defeated Sampson and Shoop, 8-3. The No. 3 team of Daigle and Lee won the last doubles match of the day as they downed Von Brecht and Kittredge, 8-0.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, April 24 as they take on the Wildcats of Villanova at 2:30 p.m.
