Brendan Ryan Earns Weekly Conference Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College's Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week for men's lacrosse, for the week ending March 21, 2004. The announcement was released by the league office on Monday, March 22.

Ryan leads the Friars in scoring through the first five games of the 2004 season with 10 points on one goal and a team-leading nine assists. He has tallied three assists in a single game on two occasions this season in games against Fairfield (2/21/04) and Hartford (3/16/04). He also scored the first goal of his collegiate career in a 7-4 victory against Hartford on March 16.

In the Friars' only MAAC game this season, to date, Providence defeated defending MAAC Tournament Champion Mount St. Mary's, 13-11, in Emmitsburg, Md. on March 13. Ryan tallied two assists in that game.

Providence, who is in the midst of a two-game win streak, holds a current overall record of 2-3 and has a 1-0 mark in the MAAC.
