Women's Tennis Defeats Nova University

The Providence College women's tennis team defeated Nova University, 4-2, on Sunday, March 7 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In singles action freshman Jen Daigle (East Greenbush, N.Y.) defeated Michelle Alarez, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 1 spot, while sophomore Cheri Lapane (Reading, Mass.) was beating Stephanie Zevallus at No. 2 singles, 4-1, before Zevallus had to retire. Sophomore Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.) earned the Friars' third victory on the day as she defeated Sebrina Booi, 6-2, 6-4 in the third singles slot, while junior Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) playing No. 4 singles defeated Haydee Pabon, 7-5, 6-4. The Friars dropped the last two matches of the day as junior Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass.) lost to Michelle Alarez, 8-1, in the fifth spot and freshman Andrea Lee (Cumberland, R.I.) fell to Sebrina Booi, 6-2, in the No. 6 slot.
With the win the Friars improved to 3-3 on the season. Providence returns to action on Tuesday, March 9 as they take on the University of Pittsburgh in Duck Key, Fla.
