Two Friars Compete in 2004 Wilson/ITA Eastern Regional Championship

Junior Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.) and senior Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) traveled to the University of Pennsylvania this past weekend to compete in the 2004 Wilson/ITA Eastern Regional Championship.

Bitetti (5-9) represented Providence in singles action and was defeated in straight sets by Harvard's freshman Stephanie Schnitter (1-6, 0-6). In doubles, the top Friar duo of Bitetti and Gilbride concluded play with a first-round 3-8 loss to Courtney Bergman and Elsa O'Riain of Harvard.

The women's tennis team has now completed their fall season with a 6-1 team record. PC has not recorded six or more wins in the fall since 2000, when they ended the year with a 10-7 record. The Friars return to action when they open up the spring season on Saturday, February 2 with a 6:00 p.m. home match versus Rutgers.
