PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (4-14) closes out the 2004 home campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. as it welcomes Boston College (14-7) to Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall.
The Eagles, winners of seven straight matches, are led by head coach Andrea Leonard in her second season with the team. Senior Katie Anderson leads the team averaging 3.01 kills per game, while sophomore Allison Anderson has totaled a team-leading 4.99 digs per game.
Providence is coming off a six-day layoff, and enters the contest with an undefeated record at home on Tuesday nights. A win over the regional rival would match PC's highest figure in three years.
Senior captain Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.), who leads the team averaging 3.97 kills per game, will be playing in her last contest at Mullaney Gymnasium. She will be joined by classmate Jennifer Backes (Seaford, N.Y.) who leads the team with 194 digs to average 2.90 per game. Senior Gayle Malachowski (Warwick, R.I.) will also be donning the home-whites for the final time, and looks to bump up her season averages of 1.46 kills per game and 1.36 digs per game.
