The Providence College field hockey team hosts New Hampshire in non-conference action on Friday, September 26 in Providence, R.I. The Friars look to rebound from a 2-0 loss to No. 18 Boston College in the 2003 BIG EAST Conference opener on Wednesday, September 24 in Providence, R.I. The loss halted the Friars' four-game win streak and dropped Providence to 5-3 overall (0-1 BIG EAST).

During the 2002 season, the Friars fell to UNH, 1-0, in overtime. Prior to that loss, the Friars earned victories in 2001 at Hendricken Field in Providence, R.I. (2-1 OT) and in 2000 in Durham, N.H. (2-1). The two teams first met during the 1980 season, as the Wildcats opened the all-time series with a 4-1 win over the Friars. PC dropped seven-straight games against the Wildcats before winning its first game against UNH during the 1987 season, 2-0. The two teams have played a total of 22 games in the all-time series with UNH holding the series advantage with a 16-6 overall record versus the Friars. Providence has won four of the last eight match-ups against New Hampshire dating back to 1995.

Providence is led offensively by sophomore forward Katharine Lary (Canaan, N.H.) who has registered 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. Lary also leads the BIG EAST Conference in overall scoring. Senior midfielder Stefanie Suehnholz (Flemington, N.J.) and freshman forward Melissa McGow (Branford, Conn.) each have 10 points on the season, while junior Amy Phillips (Worcester, Mass.) has collected eight points. In goal for Providence, senior Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) has recorded 69 saves and allowed 18 goals in 532 minutes of action. She has a 2.37 goals against average and a 0.793 save percentage.

New Hampshire enters Friday's game with a 4-4 overall record and is led offensively by Jenn Harrison and Katie White. Harrison owns nine points on four goals and one assist, while White has tallied four goals for eight points. Caitlin Gillen and Jen Stamp each have seven points on the season. Gillen has three goals and one assist. Stamp has one goal and is tied with Lauren Bruce for the team lead in assists with five. Christine Buckley has recorded 70 saves and allowed 30 goals in 550 minutes of action in the cage. Buckley has a 4.07 goals against average and a 0.709 save percentage.
