BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Providence College was defeated by host Lehigh, 3-1 (30-23, 30-21, 27-30, 30-25), in the Friars' first game at the 2003 Mountain Hawk Classic on Friday evening at Taylor Gym.

The Friars (0-12) were led by junior Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) who notched a match-high 15 kills and four digs in the match. Sophomore Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) hit for 11 kills and eight digs.

Lehigh (6-6) was paced by Rebecca Gawronski and Morgan Volkart. Each had 13 kills in the match.

Providence returns to action at the Mountain Hawk Classic on Saturday, September 20 against Niagara at 11:00 a.m. and Quinnipiac at 5:00 p.m.
