Field Hockey Receives Three National Letters Of Intent

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey coach Diane Madl announced on March 25 that student athletes Emily Ewens (Vancouver, B.C.), Lauren Sickel (Plaistow, N.H.) and Jessica Weinstein (Bridgeton, N.J.) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College in the fall of 2003.
Ewens, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, is a North Shore Field Hockey League First-Team selection and was named Honorable Mention Athlete of the Year at Argyle Secondary School. Ewens helped guide the Indoor Zone Team to a first-place finish in 2001, followed by second and third-place finishes in 2002 and 2003, respectively. She also helped the Outdoor Zone Team to consecutive first-place finishes in 2001 and 2002, and played for the Vipers Women's League, who turned in a first-place finish at the 2001 Vancouver International Tournament. Ewens currently attends Argyle Secondary School in North Vancouver, B.C., and is coached by Brenda Bell. She is the daughter of Peter and Corry Ewens.
Sickel, a native of Plaistow, N.H., is a three-year varsity starter and a First-Team All-State selection in 2001 and 2002. Sickel also earned Eagle Tribune All-Star and team most valuable player honors during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She is involved in the Futures program and attended the National Futures Tournament in 2002. Sickel currently attends Timberlane High School in Plaistow, N.H., and is coached by Cindy Hendy. She is the daughter of Paul and Ellen Sickel.
Weinstein, a native of Bridgeton, N.J., is a three-time all-conference selection which includes two appearances on the second-team (2000 and 2001) and one appearance on the first team (2002), and was selected to play in the 2002 Senior All-Star Game in Maple Shade, N.J. Weinstein also has been involved with the Futures Program since 1998, and is a member of the U.S. Spirit indoor and outdoor teams. Weinstein currently attends Cumberland Regional High School in Seabrook, N.J., and is coached by Jeanne Berry. She is the daughter of Donna and Louis Weinstein.
