CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The Providence College field hockey team was defeated by 19th-ranked Harvard, 7-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field in Cambridge, Mass. The Crimson improve to 7-2 with the win, while the Friars fall to 7-5 overall.

Jen McDavitt scored the first of her two goals 2:15 into the game. Elizabeth Andrews, who also had two goals in the game, scored her first of the day at 8:20. Shelley Maasdorp threaded a pass to Andrews in the circle on a penalty corner and Andrews banged it home for her fifth goal of the season. Andrews made it 3-0 in favor of Harvard when she collected a rebound in the circle and found the back of the cage at 13:26. McDavitt's second goal of the afternoon came at 21:09 and gave the Crimson a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

Jen Ahn scored the first goal of her collegiate career at 38:26 when she dribbled into the top of the circle and fired a shot inside the right post. Kate McDavitt gave Harvard a 6-0 lead at 39:57 with her third goal of the season. Gretchen Fuller also notched the first goal of her career off of an assist from Jane Sackovich at 57:16 to close out the 7-0 win.

Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) made six saves in 53:01 minutes of action in the cage for Providence. Meredith Jones (Lake Forest, Ill.) closed out the game for the Frairs, making no saves. Katie Zacarian played the first half for the Crimson, finishing with two saves.

Providence (7-5) will host in-state rival Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 8 in a non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be played at Hendricken Field on the campus of Providence College in Providence, R.I.
