FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Fairfield, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday, September 7, in Fairfield, Conn.
Senior Jennifer Chin (Flemington, N.J.) scored the Friars' lone goal at the 19:57 mark of the first half to give PC an early 1-0 lead. Chin registered her goal as she deflected a shot taken by junior Stefanie Suehnholz. Suehnholz was credited with the assist.
Fairfield evened the score at 1-1 just 47-seconds into the second half of play as Andrea Caputa scored on an assist from Kara Lynch. Neither PC or Fairfield were able to score again before the end of regulation.
The Stags earned the win three minutes into the sudden-victory overtime as Dani Brown connected on a break-away goal.
Junior goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) made two saves in goal for Providence. Lauren Thomas recorded three saves in goal for Fairfield.
Providence (2-2) will face Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn. at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8.
