PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated in its season opener by Notre Dame, 3-0, on Friday, August 30 at Providence's Glay Field.
Both teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime, and it was not until the 50th minute that Notre Dame forward Amy Warner scored on an assist from midfielder Kim Carpenter. The Fighting Irish scored two more times in the next seven minutes on an unassisted goal by Randi Scheller in the 54th minute, and Mary Boland's goal from Warner in the 57th minute.
