FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Providence College Friars defeated the University of Findlay, 1-0, in women's hockey action on Sunday, November 17 at Findlay, Ohio. Friar junior Darlene Stephenson (Virden, Manitoba) scored the only goal of the game to give Providence its sixth win of the season.
Stephenson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 1:20 remaining in the first period. Despite outshooting Findlay, 54-13, the Friars could only get one shot past goaltender Jessica Moffat. Moffat made a school record 52 saves for Findlay.
PC sophomore netminder Amy Quinlan (Baton Rouge, La.) made 13 stops and earned the shutout.
With the win, Providence raised its record to 6-3-1 overall , while Findlay fell to 5-8-0.
Providence College will return to action on Saturday, November 23 at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. at 2:00 p.m.
