Providence College freshman goaltender Jana Bugden (Corner Brook, Newfoundland) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Co-Rookie of the Week on November 12, 2002.
Bugden earned the honor for her stellar play in a two-game weekend series with the University of Maine, in which she did not allow a goal. She made 39 saves combined in the two shutouts and lowered her season goals against average to 1.45 and increased her save percentage to .935. Her strong play on Sunday, November 10 helped to keep the Friars in the game as Maine peppered her with 28 shots. Bugden had to face numerous breakaways and short-handed situations as Providence was outshot in the first period, 12-4. Bugden is 4-2-1 on the season and has started seven consecutive games.
The eighth-ranked Friars' next game is on Saturday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Ohio State's OSU Ice Arena.
