MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -Providence College was defeated by West Virginia, 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-21) in BIG EAST volleyball action on Saturday, October 12, 2002 at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.
With the loss, the Friars drop to 2-18 on the season and 0-3 in BIG EAST action. West Virginia improves to 7-12 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Sophomore Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Friar offense with a match-high 16 kills on 34 total attempts for a .206 hitting percentage. Freshman Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.) notched 11 kills and tied for a match-high with 12 digs for Providence.
West Virginia's Alison Zemanski powered the Mountaineers' attack with 11 kills on 20 total attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
Providence College will next face Pittsburgh on Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
