PROVIDENCE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM CAPTURES ITS 22ND BOSTON, Mass. -- The 14th-ranked Providence College men's cross country team captured its 22nd New England Championship on Friday, October 11, 2002 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. It also marked Providence's third consecutive New England title and sixth in the last 10 years. Senior Adam Sutton (Preston, England) led the Friars as he finished first in a time of 23:31.
In addition to Sutton, the Friars' other top-10 finishers were senior Tyler McCabe of Mystic, Conn. (third -- 24:04) and sophomore Patrick Moulton of Pelham, N.H. (fourth -- 24:10). Rounding out the scoring for Providence were sophomore Patrick Guidera of Clonmel, Ireland (11th -- 24:40) and sophomore Dylan Wykes of Kingston, Ontario (17th -- 24:48).
Friar freshman Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) won the junior varsity race in a time of 25:21.
The PC men's team returns to action on November 1 at the BIG EAST Championships at Franklin Park.
