PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Wednesday, August 15, Providence College Head Field Hockey Coach Bill Davidson announced the appointment of Julie Clark as assistant field hockey coach.
Clark comes to Providence after spending one season as an assistant coach at James Madison University. Before her stint at JMU, she was an assistant at the University of Richmond during the 1999 season, and the head coach at Drew University from 1994 to 1998. Clark also served as an assistant athletics director while at Drew from 1998-1999. During her tenure at Drew, Clark was honored as Middle Atlantic Conference, Freedom League Coach of the Year in 1998.
Clark, a 1993 graduate of Syracuse University, was a Collegiate Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America selection in 1993, and a two-time Mid-East Regional All-America honoree in 1992 and 1993. As a defender, Clark played a key role in helping Syracuse to it's first-ever BIG EAST regular-season and Tournament Championship in 1993, and the team's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Clark finished her career at Syracuse with 23 goals and six assists for 52 points.
Clark holds USFHA Level I and Futures Coaching Certification. She has worked extensively with a number of field hockey camps in over a half-dozen states across the country. The Queensbury, N.Y. native received her bachelor's degree in health and exercise science from Syracuse in 1993.
