Women's Swimming Defeats Vermont, 190-108

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Providence College women's swimming and diving team defeated the University of Vermont, 190-108 on Saturday, February 3.
Providence seniors Lori Cosman (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Maggie Singler (Mapplewood, N.J.) led the Friars to their sixth dual meet win. Cosman won three individual events: the 50 freestyle in 25.59, the 100 freestyle in 44.48 and the 200 freestyle in 2:00.50. Cosman also swam the anchor leg of Providence's first-place 200 medley relay.
With her three individual victories, Cosman broke the PC women's swimming all-time career points record, previously held by Cindi Luciani `90, who totalled 682 points in her PC career. Cosman, finished her dual meet career at PC with 686 career points after entering the 2000-2001 season in eighth place with 374.75 points.
Singler was the winner of two individual events on Saturday and was also a member of the Friars' 200 medley relay. Singler won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.01 for the Friars and captured the 100 butterfly with an automatic qualifying time of 1:00.78 for the ECAC Championship meet.
The Friars return to action on February 9-10 when they compete in the Husky Invitational at the University of Connecticut.
