Providence College defeated Quinnipiac University, 3-0, in men's soccer action at Hamden, Conn., on Saturday, November 3.
Providence senior Tom Blesso (Billerica, Mass.) opened the scoring at the 27:33 mark on a shot from the left flank. PC senior back Kempes Corbally (Dublin, Ireland) assisted on the goal. Corbally struck again as he knocked in a header for a 2-0 lead at 53:56. Friar graduate student Andrew Bussmann (Guilford, Conn.) closed out the scoring for PC on a shot from the top of the box in the 74th minute.
Quinnipiac goalkeeper Jim Ryan (North Haven, Conn.) registered six saves for the Braves. Friar junior goalkeeper Michael Gruelich (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded three stops in the win.
The victory was the first of the year for the Friars, who improved to 1-13-2 overall. Quinnipiac fell to 7-9-1 with the loss.
Providence College returns to action against Seton Hall on Tuesday, November 6, at Providence, R.I. at 1:00 p.m.
