PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- On Friday, November 2, Providence College was notified by the NCAA that men's basketball student-athlete Tuukka Kotti (Forssa, Finland) has been cleared to participate in all competition during the 2001-02 season. In July 2001, the College received a letter of inquiry from the NCAA questioning whether Kotti had violated NCAA amateurism rules while participating on club basketball teams in Finland.

The Providence College Athletic Department is continuing to gather information with regards to letters of inquiry that it has received from the NCAA regarding the amateurism status of men's basketball student-athletes Christopher Anrin (Varmdo, Sweden) and Maris Laksa (Ventspils, Latvia). Due to the fact that the College has not finished gathering information regarding the amateurism status of Anrin and Laksa, they will not participate in the team's exhibition game versus the One World All-Stars on Saturday, November 3 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Providence College Athletic Department is optimistic that both of these cases will be resolved in the near future.
