PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's cross country team is ranked tenth in the MONDO NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Poll, released Tuesday, October 30. The Friars were picked fourth in the preseason poll, released on September 5. Most recently, the Friars earned a third-place finish at the BIG EAST Championship held at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y., on Friday, October 26. A year ago, the Friars qualified for their sixth-consecutive NCAA Championship, where they finished third overall.
Providence received 254 points in the poll. Colorado tops the rankings with 13 first-place votes and 393 points overall. Stanford (381 points) and Arkansas (373 points) are ranked second and third, respectively, with Stanford receiving two first-place votes, and Arkansas receiving one. Wisconsin (352 points) holds fourth place, BIG EAST opponent, Notre Dame (329 points) ranks fifth, North Carolina State ranks sixth (324 points), Villanova ranks seventh (283 points), Portland holds the eighth spot with 275 points, and Northern Arizona ranks ninth with 267 points.
