PROVIDENCE COLLEGE SELLS PIECES OF ORIGINAL ALUMNI HALL COURT Fans Can Purchase Authentic Pieces Of Alumni Hall Court

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College basketball fans can now purchase authentic pieces of the Alumni Hall basketball court. The court, which was originally installed when the building opened in 1955, was recently replaced and is being sold with proceeds benefiting the Friar Athletic Fund.

The pieces of the original Alumni Hall basketball court are now available in limited quantities. Lamco Finishers is offering three different types of plaques which display a piece of the court. Each plaque includes a certificate of authenticity verifying that it is truly a piece of Alumni Hall.

The three types of plaques are:

*THE FRIAR LEGACY ($125) - A 19" X 16" laminate plaque that features the 1961 and 1963 Providence College NIT Championship teams. A 16" piece of floor is displayed.

*THE LEGEND ($65) - A 9" X 12" cherry plaque that features 12 players who were 1,000 point scorers or All-Americans between 1955 and 1972 and former head coaches Joe Mullaney and Dave Gavitt. The names are laser engraved in gold on black. A 5" piece of the floor is displayed.

*THE CLASSIC ($35) - A 5" piece of floor mounted to the top of a 5" X 7" X .75" crystal clear beveled acrylic desk piece. The gold metal features the Friar logo.

To order a plaque or for more information, visit the Lamco website at www.historicfloor.com/PC or call 1-800-968-9697.

Providence College's Alumni Hall opened on December 3, 1955 when the Friar men's team defeated Brown, 71-55. PC's men's team posted a 178-29 mark at Alumni Hall from 1955-72. Alumni Hall still serves as the practice facility for the men's basketball team. It also has served as the home court for the PC women's basketball squad since 1974.
