CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College defeated Providence College, 2-1, in BIG EAST field hockey action on Wednesday, September 27 at Chestnut Hill, Mass. Amelie Wulff netted the game-winning penalty stroke to give the Eagles the win.
Wulff scored the first goal of the game at 17:34 of the first half off a penalty corner to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. PC's Breanne Wojnarowicz evened the game at 1-1 when she scored the Friars' only goal with 26:43 remaining in the game. However less than two minutes later, Wulff netted the game-winning tally to give the Eagles the victory.
Providence goaltender Heather Tattersall played strong in net for PC, making 13 saves in the loss.
With the win, Boston College improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in BIG EAST action, while Providence fell to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in league play.
The Friars will return to action on October 30 against Rutgers in the PC's home opener at 1:00 p.m.
