Sara DeCosta Named ECAC/Heaton Goaltender Of The Week

Providence, R.I. -- Providence College junior Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) was named ECAC/Heaton Goaltender of the Week on March 13, 2000. This marks a league leading, fifth time this season that DeCosta has received the honor.

On March 11, DeCosta turned in a career night, stopping 62 shots, in a double overtime, 1-0 loss to Dartmouth College.

DeCosta finished the season with a record of 17-10-3 with a 1.50 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.

DeCosta will now concentrate on earning a spot on the 2000 U.S. National Team . The U.S. National Team will compete at the 2000 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championships, April 3-9 in Mississauga, Ontario. Thirty-one players, including DeCosta, will report to training camp in Lake Placid, N.Y., on March 20. The final 20-player roster will be selected prior to the team's departure for Ontario on March 30.

DeCosta is the daughter of Frank and Nancy DeCosta.
