Women's Hockey Falls To Niagara, 1-0

Providence, R.I.... --The eighth-ranked Providence College Friars were defeated by the ninth-ranked Niagara Purple Eagles, 1-0 in women's hockey action, on February 13, at Niagara's Dwyer Arena.

Niagara's Valerie Hall scored the game's only goal, on a five on three power play, with just eight seconds left in the first. Brooke Bradburn and Candace Ceelen were credited with assists on the play.

Purple Eagle goalie Crystal Foster, recorded 24 saves, posting her first collegiate shutout in just her third start. Foster received the start in place of top goaltender Tania Pinelli, who missed two games while competing with the Canadian Under-22 team, at a four team tournament in Germany.

Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) stopped 29 shots in goal, for the Friars.

Providence record drops at 17-7-3 overall, 11-6-3 in the ECAC, the Purple Eagles improve to 17-9-2 overall, and 10-9-1 in the ECAC.

The Friars will return to action on Feb. 19, at Schneider Arena, versus the US National Team, at 7:00 p.m.
