Sara DeCosta Named ECAC Goaltender Of The Week

Providence, R.I. -- Providence College junior Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on January 31, 2000. DeCosta helped the Friars to a 2-0-0 record this past weekend, posting a 0.50 goals against average and a .979 save percentage.

Versus Cornell, on January 29, the junior netminder recorded 21 saves in the 3-1 Friar win. On January 30, DeCosta tallied 25 saves in a 4-0 shutout victory over St. Lawrence, her sixth shutout of the season. This marks the third time that PC's DeCosta has earned this honor, with the first coming on October 25, 1999, and the second on January 10, 2000.

For the season, DeCosta's record stands at 12-5-3 with a 1.33 goals against average and a .950 save percentage.

DeCosta is the daughter of Frank and Nancy DeCosta. The Friars will return to action on February 5, at Brown University at 1:00 p.m.
