Freshman Jenese Wilcox Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's basketball team freshman Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, N.Y./The Ursuline School) was named the BIG EAST Conference's Rookie of the Week on Monday, December 4th by the conference office.
Wilcox earned the honor for the second time in three weeks as she led the Friars (3-3 overall) to two wins last week. Providence defeated the University of Rhode Island, 87-65, on November 29th and defeated Siena College, 77-66, on December 2nd.
Wilcox scored a career-high 21 points at URI, hitting eight-of-eight shots from the floor and connected on five-of-six shots from the foul line. She also added six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the win.
On Saturday against Siena College, Wilcox recorded her second double-double of the year as she scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. She also added twi assists and blocked one shot in 30 minutes.
The 6'2" freshman center leads the Friars through six games in rebounding (8.7), field goal percentage (68%) and is second in scoring (12.3 ppg). Wilcox also ranks among the BIG EAST Conference leaders, ranking tied for 19th in scoring, 14th in free throw percentage and second in the conference in rebounding.
