PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Marcus Douthit had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Providence past Brown 110-59 Saturday night.

Providence (7-3) overwhelmed Brown from the start, taking a 55-23 halftime lead. Douthit, who shot 11 of 14 from the field, had 12 of his 22 points in the first half.

Brown (2-5) shot only 27 percent from the field in the first half and 38 percent for the game while committing 15 turnovers. Providence, by contrast, hit 62 percent from the field and outrebounded Brown, 42-25.

Earl Hunt and Patrick Powers had 11 points each and Brad Simpson added 10 to lead Brown.

Romuald Augustin and Erron Maxey both had 15 points for Providence, which had seven players score in double figures. Sheiku Kabba scored 13 points, Christopher Anrin had 12 and Abdul Mills and Maris Laska scored 11 each for Providence.

It was the worst defeat in the 79-year series between the two Providence schools, which Providence leads 85-24.

Providence has now won three straight games, and the last nine games in the series with Brown.
