Providence College vs. Siena College Saints Women's Basketball Game Preview Saturday, December 2nd * Alumni Hall * 2:00 p.m.

The Providence College women's basketball team hosts the Siena College Saints in the Friars 2000-2001 home opener today at Mullaney Gym in Alumni Hall. The Friars (2-3) overall and the Saints (2-1 overall) meet for the third time ever, with Providence leading the all-time series, 2-0. Today's game begins a four-game home stand for the month of December. The Friars hosts Fairfield on Monday (Dec. 4th), Seton Hall on Thursday (Dec. 7th) and Holy Cross (Dec. 20th).

TEAM NOTES: Senior Jen Gombotz leads the Friars in scoring at a 15.2 clip ... Freshman center Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, N.Y.) has become a prime-time player as a rookie for PC. She is second on the squad in scoring (12.8), leads the team in rebouning (8.0) and in field goal percentage (0.694). Her numbers rank her 17th in the conference in scoring, third in the conference in field goal % and sixth in the league in rebounding ... The Friars opened the season with the first five games on the road. PC began the season in Minnesota at the 2000 Sheraton Four Points Basketball Classic, beating Central Michigan (W 78-55), and then lost in the championship game to Minnesota (L 88-60). PC then traveled to San Jose for the Thanksgiving holiday and faced the University of the Pacific (L 78-76 OT) and Santa Clara (L 65-49). The Friars returned to the Ocean State and beat the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday (W 87-65).

TEAM NOTES: Siena had their two-game win streak snapped on Wednesday by the Vermont Catamounts (L 76-72). The Saints began the season with wins over Dartmouth (W 80-58) and Holy Cross (82-68).
