NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Providence College men's golf team finished 13th at the prestigious Adams Cup at the Point Judith Country Club on October 3-4. Providence shot a two-day, three-round total of 949 (320-313-316). The Adams Cup was won by Virginia Tech with a score of 868 (289-288-291) on the 6,735 yard, par-70 course.
The Friars were led by senior Ben Bridgeo (Southbridge, Mass.) who placed 44th with a score of 230 (76-78-76). PC's other golfers were senior Chris Hynes of Warwick, R.I. (tied 53rd, 82-78-75--235),junior Chris Tobey of Hopkinton, Mass. (tied 61st, 78-80-83--241), senior Dean Cashman of Etna, N.H. (tied 64th, 84-77-82--243) and sophomore Ryan Shaw of East Long Meadow, Mass. (69th, 88-86-83--257).
Jeff Curl of UNC-Charlotte won the individual title with a score of 212 (69-71-72).
The Friars will return to action on October 23-24 at the New England Intercollegiate Tournament at the New Seabury Country Club in Newport, R.I.
