Brown University Bears (9-2-0, 2-1-0): Brown University travels to Providence College on Wednesday, October 18 for the 18th meeting in the all-time history of both schools. Brown holds a 15-2-0 lead in the series with its last lost taking place in 1993. The Bears enter Wednesday's game with an overall record of 9-2-0 and a 2-1-0 mark in the Ivy League. In its last outing, Brown was defeated by Rhode Island, 2-0, on Sunday, October 15. Brown is led on offense by junior forward Kim Lanzire (Bristol, R.I.) who has recorded four goals and three assists on the season. In goal, junior Mary Jo Markle (West Chester, Pa.) and freshman Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, R.I.) have seen split action. Together, the goalkeepers have posted a 0.36 goals against average and a .950 save percentage.
Providence College Friars (5-9-1, 0-5-0): The Providence College Friars return to home action on Wednesday, October 18 when they host Brown University at 3:00 p.m. at Glay Field. The Friars enter Wednesday's game with a 5-9-1 record overall and a 0-5-0 mark in BIG EAST Northeast Division action. Providence posted a 1-0-1 mark last week, defeating Siena College on Thursday, October 12 and playing to a 1-1 tie at Pittsburgh on Sunday, October 15. Junior forward Caitlyn Welsh (Winter Springs, Fla.) dominated up front for the Friars last week. Welsh recorded both of PC's goals in the 2-0 win versus Siena and recorded PC's lone goal in the tie at Pittsburgh. For the season, Welsh has accumulated eight goals and two assists. In goal, freshman goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) has seen every minute of action for the Friars. Haines has recorded a 1.52 goals against average along with a .821 save percentage on her way to recording five shutouts on the season.
