Friars fall to Brown, 5-4

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence College Field Hockey team fell to Brown University this afternoon, 5-4 at Hendricken Field. The Bears scored four times in the second half after falling behind 2-0.

The Friars got on the board first with goals by seniors Carrie Leoncavallo and Erica Hebert. The Bears tallied their only first half goal at the 5:02 mark as Hyon Joo Park slid one in the corner. PC freshman Jennifer Chin scored with 3:16 remaining to give the Friars a 3-1 halftime lead.

It was all Brown in the final 35 minutes as Cara Gardner scored twice and added an assist and Park scored her second of the game to knot the game, 4-4 with 12:27 remaining. The gamewinner was scored by Megan Patterson as she put a penalty stroke high in the left corner.

Providence goalie Andrea Weyl made six saves while goalie Sasha Friedman made three saves for Brown.
