Field Hockey Falls To New Hampshire, 3-2

The Providence College Field Hockey team was defeated by the University of New Hampshire Wildcats today, 3-2 in the season opener at Hendricken Field.

The Wildcats took the early lead as freshman Marcie Boyer pounded a long shot past Friar goalkeeper Andrea Weyl (Ridgefield, NJ). The Friars came back and took a 2-1 halftime lead as senior Mindy Austin (Marilla, NY) and senior Carrie Leoncavallo (Bellingham, MA) recorded their first goals of the season.

The Wildcats scored the final two goals of the game with the winning tally coming from sophomore Tami Street.

Providence goalie Andrea Weyl stopped 15 shots between the posts.
