PC Set To Host 2000 NCAA Hockey Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I -- In a press conference held on Thursday, April 8, Providence College Athletic Director John Marinatto officially began the countdown to the 2000 NCAA Frozen Four which will be hosted by Providence College and held at the Providence Civic Center on April 6-8. Marinatto accepted ticket applications for the 2000 Frozen Four from Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Almond and Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci. In addition, Almond and Cianci were presented with commemorative hockey sweaters featuring the 2000 Frozen Four logo on the front.

"Today, we are here to announce that the planning has begun for the 2000 NCAA Frozen Four which will be hosted by Providence College and held at the Providence Civic Center on April 6th through the 8th," Marinatto said. "Next year's Frozen Four will mark the seventh time that the City of Providence has hosted this wonderful event and we hope to make it bigger and better than ever!"

Providence College, which hosted the first-ever NCAA Hockey Regionals in March 1992, has long been active in pursuing NCAA Tournament action as the College played host to the 1986 and 1995 NCAA Hockey Championships and, over the years, numerous NCAA Basketball Tournament games.

The NCAA Frozen Four sells out annually and the 2000 event is expected to sell out quickly. All tickets for the 2000 NCAA Frozen Four must be ordered through the mail with an official application. To obtain a ticket application, fans should visit the PC Ticket Office or the Providence Civic Center Ticket Office. Fans also may call the Providence College Ticket Office at (401) 865-GO PC to obtain a ticket application.
