Syracuse Defeats PC, 4-1 in Field Hockey

SYRACUSE, NY - The Friar field hockey squad fell to Syracuse, 4-1 in the final BIG EAST game of the season. The loss gives the Friars a 2-3 record and a fourth place finish in the Conference.

Providence's lone goal was scored by Carrie Leoncavallo in the second half with 9.22 remaining. The Orangewomen rallied to a 2-0 lead at the half on quick goals from Kelly Hambleton and Amy Weller. With the score 2-1, the Orangewomen scored two more goals to close out the game.

Syracuse out shot the Friars, 22-9.

Providence goalie Andrea Weyl recorded 14 saves between the posts. Providence falls to 4-13 overall and will face Colgate on Sunday, October 25.
