Harvard Tops Providence, 6-3 In Field Hockey

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Friars fell to Harvard, 6-3 at Hendricken Field in Providence this afternoon. The Crimson were propelled by senior forward Judy Collins (Walpole, MA) who tallied a hattrick and added an assist in the win.

With Harvard up 4-0 midway through the first half, junior Erica Hebert tallied a Providence goal off a penalty stroke. Three minutes later, Hebert scored again to put the Friars back in the game, 4-2 at the half.

Collins scored her third goal of the game at the 14.43 mark of the second half to give the Crimson a 5-2 advantage. The teams traded goals in the final 3:30 minutes of the game as Providence's Jamie Lerch and Harvard's Kate Nagle chalked up points.

Providence recorded four saves between the posts while Harvard also recorded four saves. Harvard scored two goals on penalty strokes while Providence was one of two on strokes. Friars fall to 3-12 overall while Harvard improves to 6-5 overall.
