The Friars' team captain set personal bests with 12 field goals and 25 points in the win over American University.

MAXEY-MUM EFFORT....Erron Maxey turned in his third consecutive double-double in the loss to Central Connecticut. Maxey scored a game highs in the scoring and rebounding department with 19 and 14 respectively. He now has four double-doubles on the season. In the December 7th win over Rhode Island, Maxey had 12 points and 14 rebounds in the 62-49 win and against North Carolina State, the 6-6 jumping jack had 18 points and ten boards. Over his last three games, Maxey has scored 49 points (16.3 ppg) and pulled down 43 rebounds (14.3 per game). Earlier in the season, the Lake Elsinore, California native had 15 points and a career-best 18 rebounds in PC's win over Brown in his other double-double. Maxey has led the Friars in scoring in eight of nine games this season and in rebounding in six of PC's first nine games. He leads PC with 16.7 ppg and 9.9 rebounds.

MR. ROGERS...Junior college transfer Chris Rogers made his first start of the season at point guard for the Friars versus Virginia and turned in his best performance. The Shreveport, La. native scored 11 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists in the game.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE...Junior center David Murray set a career best for rebounds in his short, nine-game career at Providence at North Carolina State. PC's "man in the middle" pulled down 11 rebounds while scoring nine points. It marked the third time this season and the second consecutive game that the 6-9 forward from the Bronx, New York has led the Friars in rebounding. Over the last seven games, Murray has scored 65 points (9.3 ppg) while pulling down 43 rebounds (6.1 per game). Murray comes to Providence after playing his junior college basketball at Mesa Community College in Arizona from 1996-98. He sat out last year to finish up his course work so he's playing his first basketball since the end of the 1997-98 season.

WADE-ING INTO THE ACTION...Junior guard Donta Wade made his first start of the season versus Central Connecticut and scored 12 points with three rebounds. The junior college transfer got off to a slow start for the Friars scoring just nine points in PC's first four games. He found the range in Puerto Rico with 19 points off the bench going 7-11 FG and 5-7 3PTers. In the win over Boston University, Wade again sparked the Friars with 11 points off the bench (4-6 FG, 3-5 3PT). In his last five games, Wade has scored 48 points (9.6 points per game).

SLAMMING THE DOOR...PC's relentless defense against Rhode Island held the Rams to a season-low 49 points on December 7th. The 49 points equals the fewest points a PC team has surrendered in Tim Welsh's two seasons guiding the Black and White. Last year, the Friars defeated Seton Hall by a 65-49 margin. PC's defense held URI to a season low 30.2% shooting (13-43) and force the Rams into 24 turnovers on the night.
