HANOVER, N.H. - The Providence College Friars closed out their regular season with a 3-2 win against Dartmouth College in men's soccer action on Tuesday, November 2 in Hanover, N.H. Providence junior forward Kevin Jones (Westford, Mass.) assisted on all three Friar goals to pace the PC offense.

Dartmouth senior Jamie Hozack (Philadelphia, Pa.) opened the scoring when he scored off a penalty kick at the 4:59 mark. Friar freshman Paul Chase (Weymouth, Mass.) tied the game at 1-1 with a chip shot over Dartmouth goalkeeper Michael Brennan (Sandy Hook, Conn.) at 12:35.

Early in the second half, PC freshman Todd Stigliano (Newington, Conn.) netted his first collegiate goal to give the Friars their first lead of the game at 53:38. Less than two minutes later, senior Mike Lewis (Edina, Minn.) redirected a shot past Friar sophomore goalkeeper Danny Glynn (Manchester, England) to tie the game at 2-2. PC junior Andy Bussmann (Guilford, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway at 72:24 to give PC its eighth win of the season.

Glynn made three stops while earning his fifth win of the season. Brennan recorded two stops in net for Dartmouth.

The win over Dartmouth gives the Friars four consecutive victories as the team improves to 8-8-1 overall.

The Friars have completed their regular-season schedule and will await the outcome of the Seton Hall vs. Georgetown game on Wednesday, Nov. 3 to determine their playoff fate. If Seton Hall or Notre Dame win that game, then the Friars will make the playoffs, which start on Nov. 6 or 7. If Seton Hall and Notre Dame play to a tie, then the Friars will not qualify for the playoffs.
