Friar Field Hockey Falls To #13 Boston University 5-0

Boston, Mass. - The 13th-ranked Boston University Terriers scored five first half goals on the way to a 5-0 field hockey win over the Providence College Friars Sunday afternoon at BU's Nickerson Field.

Senior co-captain Tina McDavitt had a pair of goals and added an assist on the way to a career best five-point game. The Terriers outshot the Friars 11-6 in the game.

BU's Danielle DeCoste started the scoring at the 33:47 mark. Rachel Stillings made it 2-0 at 23:46 and 13 seconds later, McDavitt had her first of the game to make it 3-0 Boston University. McDavitt closed out her scoring with 6:32 left in the first half and the Terriers got their final goal of the game with just 42 seconds left in the half as Kerry Carney connected.

The loss drops the Friars to 5-10 overall on the season while BU improves to 14-2 on the campaign.

The Friars' Andrea Weyl (Ridgefield, N.J.) played just 17:45 of the game giving up three goals and making no saves. Heather Tattersall (Bethlehem, N.H.) played the final 52:15 making six saves while surrendering two goals. BU's Noreen Flanagan and Susan Harrington combined for five saves in the shutout win.

Providence returns to action on Wednesday, October 20th when the Friars host the University of Maine at Hendricken Field beginning at 1:30 p.m.
