Sam Otis begins his first season at Providence College as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
Otis spent the last year at Syracuse University as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams, helping guide the men’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships and an NCAA Northeast Regional title. During the 2026 track season, he was part of a staff that coached 14 NCAA First Round qualifiers and three All-Americans. Prior to Syracuse, Otis spent time at University of Pittsburgh, assisting the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs in training, recruiting and administration.
Otis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024, where he competed on the Panthers’ cross country and track teams for five years and served as captain of the men’s cross country team for three seasons. A native of Manlius, N.Y., Otis placed in the top 30 at the Nike Cross Nationals while competing for Fayetteville-Manlius High School.
