Kristen Duhamel has served as an Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer since 2018. She is currently the athletic trainer for field hockey men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Â
In her current position, Duhamel oversees operations of the sports medicine department and oversees eight assistant athletic trainers. Â
Prior to Duhamel’s promotion to her current position, she has served in numerous roles at Providence College. Duhamel started at PC as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2002. She completed two seasons as an athletic trainer for field hockey and softball (2002-04). Â
Duhamel started full-time at PC in August of 2004 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. She served two more seasons with field hockey and two seasons with women’s ice hockey (2004-06). Duhamel then spent 15 seasons as Athletic Trainer for men’s and women’s track and field / cross country and women's basketball. Â
In 2013, Duhamel notable was the athletic trainer for the women’s cross country when they won the NCAA title. She was also the athletic trainer for women’s ice hockey when the squad won the Hockey East Championship and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2005. Â
Duhamel is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association, a licensed athletic trainer in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Â
Prior to joining PC, Duhamel completed an academic year post-graduate internship with Northeastern University. She served as the Athletic Trainer for women's volleyball.Â
In 2001 Duhamel graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of athletic training degree. She then earned her Master's of Education Degree in guidance and counselor education from Providence College in 2004. Â
Duhamel is originally from Woonsocket, R.I. and currently resides in Manville, R.I. with her husband, Ed, and son, Zachary. Â
