Kayla Cullerton re-joined the Providence College Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in January 2025 (working with Men’s Soccer and Women’s Swimming) after previously serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2016-18 (working with Women’s Soccer and Softball during the 2016-17 school year and Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving during the 2017-18 school year).  Cullerton was promoted to Senior Assistant Athletic Trainer in July 2025 and now serves as the Athletic Trainer for Men’s Ice Hockey and Women’s Tennis.

Prior to returning to Providence College, Kayla most recently was the Head Football Athletic Trainer at Stonehill College from 2021-25. At Stonehill, she primarily worked with the Skyhawks Football team but also served as the Athletic Trainer for Men’s and Women’s Track & Field, Women’s Equestrian and Women’s Golf.  She is also a clinical preceptor affiliated with Bridgewater State University, Merrimack College, the University of Southern Maine and Lasell University.

Prior to Stonehill, Cullerton served in several notable positions, including: Associate Head Athletic Trainer for the Massachusetts Pirates (a professional indoor football team) from 2020-21, Director of Sports Medicine / Head Athletic Trainer at Becker College from March 2020-June 2021, Associate Athletic Trainer at Becker College from July 2019-March 2020 (working with the Hawks Football, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Ice Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse and Softball), and Assistant Athletic Training Intern at Bryant University from  2018-19 (working with the Bulldogs Football team).

Kayla also assists with coverage at several local high schools as a Per Diem Athletic Trainer (including Woonsocket High School, Lincoln High School and Cumberland High School).
Cullerton is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association and a licensed athletic trainer in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  She also serves as the NATA District 1 representative for ATsCare and is a member of the Rhode Island Disaster Medical Assistance Team (Medical Reserve Corps) and the ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation).
Kayla graduated from Syracuse University in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Health & Exercise Science and a double minor in Coaching and Nutrition.  She then earned a Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Bridgewater State University in 2016 and a Masters of Education in Higher Education Counseling with a specialty in mental health from Providence College in 2018.

Cullerton is originally from Woonsocket, RI and currently resides in Walpole, MA with her fiancé, Phil.
