Arthur Parks began his career at Providence College in July of 1995 as an assistant sports information director.
He graduated from UMass Amherst in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He then went on to get his master’s in sports management from West Virginia in 1994.
After graduating from UMass, Parks worked in the sports marketing department at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance from 1991-93.
Following graduate school, he served as an intern for Raycom Sports, working with the Harris Teeter Diet Pepsi Tournament of Champions (in-season college basketball tournament) from 1993-94.
From 1994-95, he was an intern in the sports information office at Boston College. Parks handled the publicity efforts for the men’s ice hockey and lacrosse teams.
He began at PC as the primary contact for men’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track, golf and lacrosse for the PC sports information office. He was promoted to sports information director in 2000 and he has continued in this role.
While he has held this position, he serves as the primary media relations contact for men’s basketball and assists with publicity efforts for the men’s and women’s cross country and track programs. He oversees three full-time sports information assistants, as well as four graduate assistants. He also manages the departments social media staff, graphic designer, and the athletic video team.
In his time at PC, the school has hosted the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four and three NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second rounds.
Parks and his wife Meghan have two sons, Sam and Nick, and a daughter, Cate.
