Providence Student-Athletes Enjoy Academic Success In Fall Semester

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Athletics Department announced today that 100 PC student-athletes earned Dean's List honors for the Fall semester of the 2001-02 academic year.

A total of 125 Providence student-athletes, or 40 percent of Friar athletes, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Four student-athletes have maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA, while 18 student-athletes maintained a cumulative GPA between 3.75 and 3.99. Thirty PC student-athletes maintain between a 3.50 and 3.74 GPA while 32 student-athletes have maintained between a 3.25 and 3.49 GPA. The largest group of Providence student-athletes, a group of 41, have maintained a GPA of between 3.00 and 3.24.

The volleyball team registered the highest team GPA in the 2001 Fall semester, totalling a 3.47. The women's swimming and diving team had the most student-athletes make the Dean's List with 14. The swimming and diving team also has 17 team members who have maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, the most among PC's varsity teams.
