PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Friar Golf Classic presented by Hannoush Jewelers was held at Warwick Country Club in Warwick, R.I on June 1. Supporters were able to connect with coaches and student-athletes from all 21 varsity athletic programs from Providence College Athletics. Proceeds from this sold-out tournament will directly support Providence College Athletics.
Providence College Athletics would like to thank Hannoush Jewelers, the title sponsor, as well as presenting sponsors: UG2, Providence Friars Sports Properties, Coast to Coast Promotional Products, Rossi Electric, Lax & Co. and Millonzi Fine Catering.
Participants received premium gifts from Nike, Titleist and Prime Time Sports, setting the tone for an elevated day on the course. Guests enjoyed a gourmet breakfast and lunch sponsored by Michael '85, '14P and Tommy Abbood '14 of Veritas Wealth Management, while The Capital Grille provided grilled steak and a fresh oyster bar. Coca‑Cola provided refreshments and Graphic Innovations supplied event signage throughout the 18‑hole round. Golfers also had the chance to win a Flood Ford Bronco during an exciting hole‑in‑one competition.
The day wrapped up with cocktails, a buffet dinner and an engaging panel discussion moderated by Athletic Director Steve Napolillo '98. Panelists included women's basketball Head Coach Erin Batth, men's basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson, and men's ice hockey Head Coach Nate Leaman, who shared program updates and insights. Topics ranged from revenue‑share milestones to recruiting progress and the growing impact of support from the Friar Family. During the program, the 2026 Donor of the Year award was presented to Friar alum Mike Lee '79, '83G, '20P, recognizing his dedication to the Friar Family.
"The Hannoush Friar Golf Classic continues to be an incredible showcase of the strength and unity of the Friar community," Napolillo said. "I want to extend my deepest gratitude to my good friend Lou Silva of Hannoush Jewelers, the Abbood Family, Flood Ford, Warwick Country Club and all our generous sponsors. Your commitment continues to fuel the continued growth and success of Providence College Athletics."
"The Hannoush Friar Golf Classic means more to us than people realize," Hodgson said. "When my staff and I made the unanimous decision to come to Providence, it was because we believed in the vision, the people and the power of the Friar community. Events like this reaffirm that belief every single day. Your generosity fuels our momentum, elevates our student‑athletes and strengthens everything we're going to build here in Friartown."
"I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm here to win this season," Batth said. "We have an outstanding recruiting class. We have a tremendous amount of talent and hunger from our student-athletes. And we have an incredible community cheering us on. Thank you to all fans in Friartown who continue to support us as we enter another season of Friars basketball."
"Thank you to Hannoush Jewelers for their support of the annual Friar Golf Classic," Leaman said. "It was a great day spent with supporters, sponsors and my fellow coaches from each of their respective programs. The Friar Family is strong and it was evident on the golf course today during this outing."
