Aleksi Kivioja tallied a career-high three assists.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Aleksi Kivioja recorded a career-high three points and five different players found the back of the net as the No. 16/15 Providence College men's hockey team opened the second half with a 5-2 win over Alaska Fairbanks on Friday (Jan. 2) at Schneider Arena.

NOTES

- Clint Levens got the Friars off to a quick start as he re-directed Aleksi Kivioja's centering pass into the back of the net just 17 seconds into the game. The goal marked Levens' third of the season with Beau Jelsma also earning an assist on the play.

- John Mustard extended the lead to 2-0 at 6:09 with his team-high eighth goal of the season after he wired a wrist shot short side on UAF's Lassi Lehti. Alex Rybakov and Roger McQueen registered the assists.

- The Nanooks got on the board at 12:43 on a goal from Carson Reed.

- Providence re-gained its two-goal lead courtesy of freshman Beau Jelsma, who finished off a rebound from Kivioja at 11:53 of the second period.

- Andrew Centrella's first goal of the season, a power-play goal at 11:46 of the third period, extended the Providence lead to 4-1.

- Rylen Roersma brought the Nanooks back within two with the extra attacker at 16:58 of the third period.

- Roger McQueen netted his sixth goal of the season into an empty net with just four seconds to play.

- Philip Svedeback finished the night with 23 saves for his ninth victory of the season.

- Kivioja set a career-high with three points and three assists for the Friars.

- Jelsma recorded his first-career multi-point game while Levens registered his third career multi-point effort.
