Providence will host the former BIG EAST rival Panthers in an exhibition game at the start of the 2026-27 season. The game will mark the start of the Friars' 100th year of men's basketball.

The most notable Friar moment in the series history came Feb. 24, 2009 when the Friars knocked off the No. 1 ranked Panthers, 81-73, on Senior Night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion. The win marked a historic moment as Providence recorded its second win ever over a top-ranked opponent.
