Friars supporters experience championship golf at the nation’s sixth-ranked course.

PROVIDENCE – R.I. – Providence College Athletics proudly hosted the inaugural Athletic Director's Championship Series presented by Rossi Electric on Monday, June 23, at the prestigious Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia, PA. The event marked the beginning of a new tradition, aligning with Athletic Director Steve Napolillo's vision of hosting an annual Athletic Director's Championship Series at iconic U.S. Open courses across the country.

Thanks to the generous support of Rossi Electric, the title sponsor, and the commitment of the Friar Family, the event raised over $150,000, which will support revenue sharing initiatives and the Providence College's men's and women's golf programs.
The event welcomed incoming Friar golf recruits, along with former Friar men's basketball player and Philadelphia native Ed Croswell '22 and newly appointed Assistant Coach Ryan Gomes '05. Attendees enjoyed a weekend of exceptional golf and Friar camaraderie, highlighted by remarks from men's basketball Head Coach Kim English, who addressed the crowd and thanked participants for their continued support.

"I'm thrilled with the success of our first Rossi Electric Athletic Director's Championship Golf Series tournament," Napolillo said. "This is the beginning of something special—bringing Friars together at historic venues to support our student-athletes and elevate our programs. A heartfelt thank you to Merion Golf Club, my good friends Frank Rossi and John Ciacciarelli of Rossi Electric, as well as Chuck and Michele Chupein '24P, for their incredible generosity—graciously hosting Sunday's player reception at St. David's and serving as member sponsors at Merion."

Stay tuned for the announcement of the next U.S. Open course which will host the Athletic Director's Championship Series presented by Rossi Electric.
